Planning and Design for Resilience & Sustainability

Combining extensive knowledge in sustainable building design, land-use planning, and the forces that help encourage profitable investment in sustainable development and redevelopment plans and projects, The Goldstein Partnership is called upon by cities and towns along the Atlantic Coast and Hudson River as they seek to create resilient public buildings, and/or as they seek to re-examine their planning and permitting regulations in order to encourage sustainable land use planning and construction among builders and developers.

We were selected to present our work to a global audience at the ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability 9th Global Congress in Bonn, Germany, April 2018.

We provide services as:
1) Contributing members of Engineer-led teams, and
2) Direct advisors to local governments
3) Specialized consultants to other Planning Firms.

Our work helps assure that Resilience and Sustainable practices are addressed in:
Land Planning Ordinances
Redevelopment Plans
Construction and Rehabilitation Codes
Historic building guidelines
Accessibility standards
Emergency evacuation requirements
Architectural Design Guidelines
Short- and Long-Term Capital Improvement Plans
Development Applications
Green Infrastructure
Emergency Management Plans
Permitting Documents

For Government Buildings: We provide design and planning services that make vulnerable existing and new Government buildings and sites resilient while incorporating sustainable design. We were selected to design the first LEED-certified Government Building in New Jersey (LEED Silver), and have gone on to design many more. Governments rely on us to:

Devise innovative ways to gain FEMA and DEP approvals for sites where Base Flood Elevations would otherwise render a project technically infeasible.
Work with FEMA to help maximize reimbursement.
Create Capital Management plans for elected officials that inventory and assess built assets, prioritize among multiple necessary resiliency upgrade projects over short- and long-terms, and provide implementation costs.
Apply our significant experience designing LEED-certified and energy-reducing strategies.
Provide additional technical solutions to support resilient construction and minimize anticipated damage to help maintain uninterrupted delivery of Municipal Services.
Assure that designated buildings can support the Emergency operations upon which their communities rely.
